Three Steps has a staff compliment of over 120 users made up of administrative and field-based users, spread across ten locations.

Three Step’s Challenge
Three Steps were seeking a review of their ICT infrastructure with a view to tackling a host of technical issues, including Cyber security, Business Continuity and Mobile Connectivity. Three Steps understood the need to review and invest in its ICT infrastructure and to appoint a new managed IT service partner to guide them and to keep informed of the ever-changing IT security landscape.
VBT’s Solution
Due to the sensitive nature of Three Steps activities and the importance of the services they provide to the community, an IT system had to be designed to link admin and field based users together centrally and securely. The system needed to be available 24/7/365 and access to all email, general data and application data needed to be completely restricted along with a Zero trust framework in place. VBT deployed an on-premise HP server with multiple fail-over features along with a backup/failover server located in a second geographical location. Using Microsoft’s Hyper-V Replica Technology, each of the primary servers virtual servers replicated to the back-up server every five minutes. With this solution in place, if the primary server ever experience a critical failover, vbt will deploy the failover and have the entire site operational within minutes. In order to tackle cyber security threats vbt deployed a Zero Trust solution in Three steps which included a host of security services including Multi-Factor Authentication, Mobile device management, hard drive encryption, Geo-IP Blocking, Applications control, and Conditional access. Considerable attention was paid in ensuring that a robust methodology was applied to file access permission for both on-premise data and Sharepoint libraries. A robust backup solution was implemented to ensure the on-premise and offsite backups are taken multiple times daily, encrypted and retained under a GFS scheme that the organisation required.
The Result
The end result meant that all of Three Steps expectations and all staff have fast, reliable, safe and secure access to their email and data 24/7/365 from all approved geographical locations and devices.
